DinoStor Qualifies TapeServer with BakBone Software's NetVault
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 01, 2003 -- DinoStor(TM), a pioneer in network enabled backup solutions, announced today it has qualified TapeServer with BakBone Software(TM)(OTCBB: BKBOF, TSX:BKB) backup and recovery software, NetVault(TM), providing a much needed backup solution for Ethernet attached storage.
DinoStor TapeServer is a 1U height rack mountable appliance, which allows SCSI and Fibre Channel based tape devices to be connected to the gigabit Ethernet. TapeServer is the first product to consolidate and share tape libraries on the gigabit Ethernet without losing the performance benefits of locally attaching tape devices to storage servers.
With DinoStor's TapeServer powering the backup network, BakBone's NetVault users can backup and restore data at native drive speeds of even the fastest tape drives via gigabit Ethernet. Shifting tape libraries from "direct attached" to "network attached" allows users to reduce cost by library sharing, decrease the backup window by library pooling and realize greater data-center safety by increasing the distance between servers and their backup. In addition, the data servers are protected from unscheduled downtimes caused by maintenance of direct-attached libraries.
