DINOSTOR ANNOUNCES NDMP SERVER DEVELOPMENT KIT AND NDMP TEST KIT

"Kits help NAS vendors to quickly add NDMP capability to their servers at a lower cost"

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - Jan 10, 2003 - DinoStorT, the leading provider of Network Data Management Protocol (NDMP) based solutions, today unveiled DinoStor NDMP Server Development Kit, a software toolkit that implements NDMP Versions 2, 3 and 4 functionality in a single binary. Network Attached Storage (NAS) vendors can license the kit and reduce the time and cost to add NDMP capability to their products. DinoStor NDMP Server Development Kit is a multi-threaded NDMP server that has been carefully designed to extend NDMP support to NAS servers with high availability needs. It has been tested to be fully interoperable with backup applications from leading vendors such as Veritas, Legato, BakBone, CommVault and Reliaty.

DinoStor also unveiled its NDMP Test Kit, a bundling of DinoStor's proven NDMP test cases and tools into a comprehensive protocol, functionality and interoperability test suite. For vendors building NDMP support into their products, the DinoStor NDMP Test Suite is an invaluable tool to help uncover defects, minimize interoperability issues, and ease certification testing.

"NDMP is essential for heterogeneous data backup management and interoperability," said Suresh Vasudevan, Director of Software Marketing for Network Appliance. "Off-the-shelf server kits and test kits can drastically reduce the effort needed to develop NDMP support and help more vendors get into the NDMP community."

"Building NDMP support from scratch is a tedious effort," says Tim Gardner, CTO of DinoStor. "Many NAS vendors start out thinking that it will be a simple task, but by the time they build multi-protocol support, implement backup, recovery features and get it tested for interoperability with backup software vendors, the project vastly exceeds all initial budgets of time and money. With years of experience in building NDMP support, what we have created is a set of building blocks that can be easily wired together to offer NDMP support on any NAS server."

DinoStor also offers a consulting, customization and testing services for vendors building or considering NDMP support. Customers interested in learning more about DinoStor NDMP Server Kit, NDMP Test Kit and other DinoStor NDMP services should contact Sury Narayanan at 650-316-5904.
